Welcome to the newest and most exciting division of Blue Dog Elite! Please read on to learn all about Blazing Tails and how your dog can join the league! Official Launch is in March 2021!
Blazing Tails offers outdoor adventures and excursions for dogs as individuals and in small groups in the local area. Group size is limited to 6 to 8 dogs or 2 to 3 dogs per handler. Individual adventures are available on a limited basis.
We pick up you dog at your home and safely transport them to a pre determined location to explore! Adventure time spent in nature is approximately an hour in length . Your dog is then returned home tired, happy and fulfilled! ( transport time is not included in total time spent. Your dog will experience a full hour of fun and exercise.)
Hi! It's me! Lesley, owner and head honcho of Blue Dog Elite. I will be coordinating, attending and supervising all adventures. Your dog will be managed by a professional trainer at all times to ensure a safe and positive experience. For group adventures, I am partnering with a life long friend of mine who an experienced dog person and avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast.
In most cases, yes..... but sometimes no. We plan and strive for the dogs to visit areas where off leash play is appropriate and safe and is not populated with outside dogs or people. Dogs will always be immediately recalled and leashed when coming into site of others or if it is not safe or reasonable for off leash exploration. Dogs who are off leash eligible will be required to have complete and reliable training on remote E Collar. There are no exceptions to this. We have very limited availability for dogs that have to remain on leash for the entire excursion. Those spaces must be reserved for puppies, dogs that are new to the group, or dogs in training on E Collar. Training packages are available for dogs that have not been previously conditioned to Remote E collar use. Please inquire!!
Yes. Adventures can be scheduled for individual dogs or dogs that live within the same household. Sometimes we can also pair with calm and balanced dog companion for some low key company. Group excursions are for dogs with good social skills only. All dogs are closely evaluated for social compatibility initially and continuously to participate in league adventures. Your dogs safety and comfort with other dogs is a top priority.
Energy and a positive attitude! We supply the rest! All league members are outfitted with:
We use our own leashes and long lines to maintain equipment integrity. We also carry an extensive first aid kit both in vehicle and while exploring and have certified training in Pet CPR and First Aid. Dogs on E collar will be expected to wear their own collar and make sure that both remote and receiver are charged and in good working order. I do carry back up just in case there is a issue with your unit.
Do I need to pack a lunch?
One of our my favorite parts of this service is the home made, healthy treats we provide! The dogs need a recovery snack after a long, high energy run, so a nourishing, restorative mini meal is provided at drop off when the dogs have cooled down. We will also provide Electrolyte H2O water formulated for dogs in the warmer months. Please let us know if your dog has any allergies or dietary restrictions.
Booking Requirements
Dogs in group adventure league must book twice weekly at a minimum. This requirement is for group cohesiveness and so your dog can become accustomed to the routine and fitness level required for this type of activity to be successful . Individual dogs not participating in group must schedule a minimum of once per week.
Photos, videos and updates
Photos and videos of adventures will be shared on social media via Instagram and Facebook. We also highly recommend downloading snapchat for the occasional live video or photo update while we are out with the dogs. We can't always guarantee photos or videos on every outing as our focus is on managing the dogs safely and not documenting it. Unless you hear from us, please assume your dog had the best day ever. We will always contact you directly and immediately if an emergency, issue or concern arises with your dog.
Vaccines and health
Vaccines must be kept up to date. Because of the increased exposure in outdoor environments and to other dogs it is recommended that you also vaccinate for Lyme, Leptospirosis (water born illness in stagnant water, because dogs are gross!) and kennel cough. We highly recommend using a monthly flea and tick preventative of your choice, however Seresto collars need to be removed from dogs that will swim. Screen regularly for tick borne illness and bring in those fecal samples for testing! If your dog is feeling or acting the slightest bit off please let us know and keep your dog home! We will always credit you for the booking if your dog is sick!
Size Matters
Puppies must be a minimum of 6 months of age to be considered for group adventures. We cannot group small dogs under 25 lbs with large dogs. There are safety concerns when managing a pack of dogs of different households and it is something that we will not risk. We will run a small dog group if there is enough of an interest, so please inquire if this is you! Individual adventures are still available to our little friends and can be paired with a house mate or trusted friend of our choosing.
Weather Considerations
Adventure League runs year round with the exception of weather extremes. Hot and humid temperatures, below freezing cold with wind chill, and heavy rain or deep snow may result in an adventure being rescheduled. These conditions are both unsafe and unpleasant for both dogs and human alike.
Final Considerations
Blazing Tails Adventure League is committed to providing a top notch, quality and safe experience for your dog. There is no better gift you can give your dog then off leash freedom, canine companionship, and time in nature to explore and fully DOG! Physical exercise combined with mental stimulation is what all dogs need! This type of activity is a recommended alternative to traditional dog daycare settings and can be more beneficial to your pet, especially under the direct supervision of an experienced trainer and matched with other well behaved dogs!
